Get ready for Hip Hop Lab Summer Camp! Students in grades 6–12 will explore the elements of Hip Hop, its history, and culture with local artists and industry professionals during this camp at the Holland Center.

Tuesday, July 23–Thursday, July 25
9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Holland Center
Drop off begins at 8:30 AM. Pick up by 5:30 PM.

What it covers

Hip Hop Lab Summer Camp will cover multiple elements of hip hop. Attendees will get to focus in on what interests them most and share out on the Holland stage with friends and family at the end of camp!

  • History – Houston Alexander will take campers on an interactive journey to 1973 to learn how hip hop got started.
  • Emceeing – Conny Franko will lead campers through writing and rapping exercises pulling from everyday experiences.
  • DJing – Kethro will teach live mixing with user-friendly DJ equipment.
  • Dance – Rayneesha Yvonne will explore hip hop dance trends from the 70s to now.
  • Graffiti – Hugo Zamorano will show campers how to create their own graffiti tags with paint markers & sketchbooks 

Who it’s for

The camp is open to students in grades 6–12. Those who attended the free-one day Camp Sampler can return and dig in deeper but attending the Sampler is not a prerequisite for the full camp experience.

What it costs

The cost is $350. If cost is a barrier, you can request a scholarship during the registration process.

*When you register for the Hip Hop Lab Summer Camp, you are signing up for the three day camp from July 23-25 for a total of $350.
